The manager of the Yellowknife Curling Centre (YKCC) plays a vital role as they are the face of the organization. The successful candidate will be community-minded in order to assist with the continued growth of the Centre and its membership. They will have proven customer service and/or managerial experience and strong communication skills. They will be able to work independently and take initiative to advance the interests of the YKCC. The manager will aim to find the balance that provides an enjoyable experience for customers and the membership, a positive fiscal return, and a comfortable, enjoyable place to work.



The Manager of the YKCC will be a salaried position with part time responsibilities during the curling season, and as needed during the off-season. It is expected that the Manager will be available to work flex hours as directed by the Board to provide services when the membership is utilizing the Centre as well as during peak times of the year. An office and equipment will be available at the club for the Manager to conduct their duties. The Manager will implement to the best of his or her ability, the decisions and policies of the Board of Directors.




  • 3 to 4 years of management-related experience (customer service, budgeting, and event planning).

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong organizational development and planning skills.

  • Budget planning and cash management.

  • Flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

  • Computer skills - Advanced proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office and bookkeeping skills (Sage Accounting)




  • Technical knowledge of the sport of curling.

  • Experience in running a recreational facility.

  • Marketing and fundraising experience.

  • Familiarity with accounting or related experience.

  • Experience with website maintenance.
